Wood and sound features
These dulcimers have a solid Walnut back, sides, fret board and scroll head. The back and top are bookmatched which adds to the beauty of the wood.
The solid wood top is usually available in Walnut, Cherry, Redgum, Sassafras, and Butternut. Woods vary and often include some not listed here. Our stock varies at any given time.
Samples representing a typical look of some woods are shown at the bottom of this page. Sound clips of some woods are also available. Sound does and often will vary when using the same wood on 2 different instruments of the same model. This can be due to varying grain patterns and hardness of the wood. |

Double Back Walnut Creek Dulcimer
This dulcimer is a variation on the Walnut Creek dulcimer described above. The double back on this dulcimer creates more volume and resonance than the standard Walnut Creek dulcimer. The other distinguishing features are inlay dots at frets 3, 5, 7, and 10, a decorative double stripe inlay in the head stock and F holes for the lower soundholes. The top soundbard wood will vary but the sides, back, fretboard and head stock are all walnut.
This dulcimer is ordered separately from the other Walnut Creek dulcimers. To purchase a double back dulcimer select it here.
