TK O'Brien's lap harps are an acoustic, handcrafted folk instrument which can be enjoyed by young students and senior citizens as well as everyone in between. Also known as a plucked psaltery, this trapezoidal shaped musical instrument provides its player with immediate rewards by producing a heavenly sound. Music cards that slip under the strings are what make playing the lap harp so easy. Simply follow the upward and downward lines and pluck the strings which lay directly over the notes below.

We have 3 models to choose from: Standard, Deluxe, and Custom.

The standard lap harp (shown on top) is available in 3 different woods and one wood has the option of an attractive soundhole rosette. Further information and ordering details are located on the standard lap harp page.

The deluxe lap harp (shown in the middle) has 4 different carved figures to choose from which set down into a hollowed out cavity in the instrument. Further information and ordering details are located on the deluxe lap harp page.

The custom lap harp is shaped a little different but stills has the same playing dimensions with the exception of having a extra note at the bottom of the instrument. Further information and ordering details are located on the custom lap harp page.

All models have a range of 2 full octaves in the key of G. Hard wood is used for the frame and hard maple is used for the pin block for tuning stability. High grade ply is used for the top and back. All models have an environmentally friendly water based lacquer finish. The standard music packs will work on all 3 models but the custom model has 2 music packs written specifically for it. The custom music will not work on the standard or deluxe models.
